Home birth

My wife is pregnant with out third child and is talking about a home birth while immersed in a pool of warm water. It will mean that we have a midwife present and if there are any difficulties, she could then be transferrred to the hospital. My problem is that I would feel much more secure if I knew she was having the baby in the hospital and they can do all the checks from the get go. She says if anything is going wrong or there is a hint of a difficulty she can still go to the hospital. That just scares me more. At the moment she has only brought it up once and I was hoping that if I say very little, she will change her mind. Now a work colleague says I should let her know how I really feel. I just think the home birth is too risky. Any tips or words of wisdom before I bring the subject up? |

Seamus - tell her how you feel. It's your baby too. And imagine how terrible you'd feel if something did go wrong and you'd never made your concerns known. You know maybe it is perfectly safe and by talking to her she'll address all your worries and you'll actually feel OK about it. Either way it can't hurt to talk about it, but not talking can. |
